5 Reasons Why I Love Reading books

Back in the day, I used to be a 12-year-old boy who thought reading was one of the most boring things to do. That watching a film was way better than reading a book. And at the time, I think I had this idea because I didn’t know what kind of book I was interested in, and school wasn’t really helping with all the homework, exams, and forcing us to read something.

All that change, when I went to a book festival with my family just for my sake of coming out of my shell and being there I came across a stand full of Goosebumps books by R. L. Stine. I guess their beautiful covers were the reason why I became so curious about reading them. It was just something interesting about those creepy paintings. The reason why I chose to read “The Night of The Living Dummy II” and “The Nightmare Room” and suddenly I was going around telling everyone than I wanted to be an author. (Silly me)

1.     Reading makes you think

I appreciate the author who can make me open my eyes and see the hard truths and things that I may normally never consider or I would never really care about. Books that make me realize, what kind of world we are living in. This beautiful but cruel world… and how our words and actions could hurt other people and what are the consequences of the decisions we make.

2.    The power of words and literature

A word can change your life. It can inspire you to change the world, or it can make you feel like you are worth nothing…

Words can make you laugh out loud, burst into tears, anger, and make you feel something you sometimes don’t know how to describe. It’s wonderful how literature can control your emotions and change them at a blow.

 Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold.

3.     Reading is an interesting way of learning

Whether you are from America or not, reading a simple book is a great way of learning. You can learn lots of things. You can learn more about your native tongue or other languages. You can improve your vocabulary. You can also gather information about your own country's history as other countries, cultures, and places without even traveling and save some money for yourself.

In my case, reading is a great way of learning English.

4.     It’s a unique experience!

Sometimes I become so invested in a story, that I feel like I’m in the book for real! This happened to me with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. It was like I wanted to stay with Harry and Ron at Hogwarts for Christmas, meanwhile, everyone was going to spend the holidays with their families. It was just exciting wandering around Hogwarts at night!

Also, George and Fred… Send ME a toilet seat!

5.     Reading It’s inspiring

Like I said, when a book is capable of making me think, feel, and see normal aspects of life from different perspectives… I just get inspired to want to be a better person and make the world a better place and write a book to inspire other people by making them feel happy, love and sad at the same time.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. _Maya Angelou

You don’t have to have the highest IQ, or thousands of connections or millions of dollars to inspire other people to be better. You can do that simply just by writing a book. A good book, obviously…
